ESC #4 – Halloween Festival

This time Halloween Festival was a lot of fun, although VERY crowded! So many people came we didn’t know what to do with them. But that’s okay, many people got really scared and also had a lot of fun, playing games and eating candy.

This time ESC was really successful! There was over 200 people attending and people had a lot of fun. Next time we hope to have a lot more discussion and let people discuss more.

6D’s ESC

Closing away the semester…

This semester is slowly coming to an end as 5D prepare for their final exam, and 6D, 7D and 8D close in on their tests. The question now is how will we work to improve the English Department for the incoming semester?
In September the English Department will receive three new foreign native-English speaking volunteers. Making a total of 4 native speakers in the International Guest House. Furthermore, the current head is Co Nguyen Tam, with the deputies, Thay Thong and Co Hue (not to mention, 30 other teachers! including Thay Ngo, Co Nhiem, Co Huyen, Co Bich Ngoc, Co Nga, etc. for a more complete list see the Contact Information page)  Let’s hope that we can all work really well together to make an exciting, powerful and enduring new year!

ESC/Movie Night Meeting Notes

GENERAL DISCUSSION

* The teachers are giving ESC reponsibility back to the students (Is this a good or bad thing?)

* FAIR is thinking about funding ESC and Movie Night

* We collected possible discussion topics from students

* How should we organize ESC?  – Some people want it to be by class, others want it to be by creating groups. The question is, what will give a higher quality ESC? This question is still unanswered

* The importance of deadlines – The handout should be printed by Wednesday

* The articles should be shorter and student-written (but teachers should have the responsiblity to edi

* There need to be more images and illustrations

* Fun language exercises should be included (i.e. crossword puzzles)

Hopefully there will be another meeting soon,that will solve some of these issues.

English Department Meeting! – Thursday, 10:45am, at the Reading Room

There will be a meeting this Thursday at 10:45 am to discuss the future of the English Speaking Club. There have been some issues with it lately and there are also a lot of new ideas about how to arrange and run it. These issues will be discussed at the meeting:

- How to organize the students?

- Who should run ESC?

-  What are ways we can improve ESC?

Also, All students must fill out a questionnaire concerning ESC, this will help everyone understand what the general ideas that people want, and what people feel.

Let’s hope ESC will become greater and greater!
